Exammination Seat and Venue Allocator

Exammination Seat and Venue Allocator

Examination malpractice among student is a problem that permeates many academic institutions in Nigeria. Students, especially colleagues, plan before an exam to sit close to each other so that they can collaborate and cheat during the exam. Universities have a large number of students in each exam halls. Sometimes, an exam hall may contain over 300 candidates to write an exam. This situation makes it difficult for invigilators to supervise the examination satisfactorily.

As an assistant examination officer of the faculty of computer science and information technology in 2016-2018, we developed an examination and seat allocator system.

The system randomly assigns seat number and venue to students 24 hours before each exam. Interestingly, the first year we deployed the system, no single case of examination malpractice reported in that year. The university commended the faculty with this idea and urged other faculties to emulate the same.
